Wednesday Walk exploring the castle and surroundings!

So yesterday I posted about walking towards the castle, but never making it there! Turns out, this morning I had the chance I was waiting for! My plans for yesterday evening changed, which meant this morning I was passing the castle! I couldn't resist the chance to take another walk around the area, this time even seeing the Castle!

Like many of the castles around Scotland right now, there's a lot of evaluations, and construction going on. Unfortunately, the castle is currently closed to the public, however, you can have a nosey around the outside!

Now as I was passing so early, I was there before the gates opened, this gave me a chance to scout the area and see what else was around! Taking the dog through fields a plenty, towards the sea then back up the hills! We managed to snap some awesome shots of the castle from various angles!

There's a quaint little church nestled into the back of the castle, I was able to access this before the castle grounds opened, check out these old gravestones complete with skulls to warn away...the grave robbers? Interesting designs from the 1880s to the early 1900s! I read some of the graves where the inscriptions were still visible, some as you'd expect were the final resting place of people who'd live full lives, some 80-90 years in some cases. However, there were many designated to those who'd lived less than 5! Scary how times have changed, current life expectancy is almost double what it was back then!

Of course, being on the coast, we couldn't not stop and have a look out over the water! Such a relaxing place, I love getting out early and getting plenty of fresh air before the day's work begins!

Well, just a quick buzz as an excuse to show off some more photos! Hope everyone has an awesome Hump Day! Until next time,

Sloth out!
